i dun see any common ports.
1.get the ‘vga to av conversion cables’
2.hook the vga end to the pcs vga output
3.and the audio(red and white) end to the audio input on the home theater system
i recommend u get it at an electronic store rather than a general store or online.

P.S.: the keyword is ‘to’.make sure u get a cable that is vga to av.NOT av to vga

In this age of digital music, how do people set up home theatre systems?

Posted in General with tags , , , , , , on August 3, 2010 by unlimitedtechsupport

Question by strilby: In this age of digital music, how do people set up home theatre systems?
I want to be able to listen to my ipod as well as TV, DVDS, etc through a system in my home, I don’t have extremely high expectations or budget. I just want something that will sound good to the average person at a medium-to-loud volume. What is most important? What makes a good speaker, a good receiver, etc? I have tried asking in electronics stores; they just want to sell me the most expensive items.

Will my HD DVR work with this home theater system?

Question by Duke: Will my HD DVR work with this home theater system?
I’m thinking of buying a blu-ray home theater system. But I don’t know if it’s speakers will also work with my DVR. The Panasonic SC-BT330 is the home theater system I’m looking at. Would it’s speakers work when I’m just watching tv?

Best answer:

Answer by BANG P
Yes, you just connect optical cable or composite cables ( red & white ) from DVR to Home Theater System for audio.

http://reviews.cnet.com/home-theater-systems/samsung-ht-bd1250/4505-6740_7-33488076.html?tag=rnav

is it wired. or can i put the speakers everywhere if they are wireless

Answer by 18 gibbs 20
This comes directly from the link you provided:

“The HT-BD1250 is “wireless rear speaker ready,” meaning that you need to purchase the additional SWA-4000 accessory to enable wireless rear speaker functionality. Like virtually all wireless speaker systems, you still need to run speaker wires from the SWA-4000 to your rear speakers, but at least you won’t have to run speaker wires from the front of your home theater to the back. (We did not have the SWA-4000 on hand, so we were not able to test this functionality.) ”

So no it’s not wireless. If it is it will say so. It’s a selling point…

Q&A: home theater system want to run outdoor speakers. The receiver only has the 6 outputs. How do I do this?

Question by jinmajay: home theater system want to run outdoor speakers. The receiver only has the 6 outputs. How do I do this?
I have two 5 1/4″ 3 WAY 150 watt outdoor speakers to install. the wire lenght will be about 50 feet per speaker. The home theater system is a Pioneer with a wireless out that says you can only use it with their equipment. they are AV jacks. Could I use some type of amp off these AV outs? or just parallel off one of the surround sound sets? Limited on funds so just something that will work. thanks j

I would suggest a reciever from a yard sale or a pawn shop. Run the wireless speaker RCA jacks to the CD input on the reciever, preset the volume and then hook up the speakers. Should work like a champ.

i actually have the Sony system at home but I am considering whether or not I should use the Sony or buy the logitech speakers

Best answer:

Answer by topofga
the sony is probably less money than the Logitech and has more features and capabilities, but the specs and reviews give the edge to logitech.
Final analysis, if you are only looking for speakers – Logitech.

My home theater speakers pick up the radio in the background, are there ways of preventing this?

Posted in General with tags , , , , , , , , , on August 2, 2010 by unlimitedtechsupport

Question by mercenary_xd: My home theater speakers pick up the radio in the background, are there ways of preventing this?
When the speakers are on, you can hear the radio, but its not connected to any radio reciever, just the DVD player and the subwoofer, this is a Coby home theater system, with dvd player, a sub and two speakers. It works well, just has the radio background which is annoying. I’ve looked for answers but cannot find anything exactly with what I need. Can anybody help me?

Answer by Logan B
My guess is that the speakers themselves are either wired to the system wrong, or wired within the speakers wrong.

my home theater system keeps cutting off after I turn it on for ten seconds…what is causing this?

Posted in General with tags , , , , , , , , , on August 2, 2010 by unlimitedtechsupport

Question by Beverly F: my home theater system keeps cutting off after I turn it on for ten seconds…what is causing this?
Could a short cause my receiver on my home theater system to cut off after about ten seconds after turning it on?

Best answer:

Answer by James
Yes, it could. Check your speaker wiring for shorts–most likely frayed strands of copper touching both the + and – terminals at one end or the other. If you don’t find any, then disconnect all speaker wires from the receiver. If it still shuts down, it is defective. If it stays on, then the load is still the problem: Bad speaker wires, or shorted speaker, or speaker with too low an impedance (not enough ohms).

I am shopping for a home theater system this weekend. Any suggestions?

Posted in General with tags , , , , , , on August 2, 2010 by unlimitedtechsupport

Question by thetunak: I am shopping for a home theater system this weekend. Any suggestions?
I am looking for a good deal on a home theater system that also works well. What are some good brands/models and places to buy? Should I buy the ones that are in the same box, or should I buy the receiver, speakers, etc. separate? Thanks.

Best answer:

Answer by agb90spruce
It depends on your budget. “The Home Theatre in a Box” approach will cost less and has the advantage that components are pretty much equal quality. On the other hand the overall quality and flexibility to add/customize components is more limited than if you buy separates. Also keep in mind that no one company makes the best of everything … and speakers in particular are the weekness in many budget systems. Obviously the disadvantages of separates are you need to know more about the components to be able to judge whether they match in terms of quality, etc.

See the link for an article on this very topic.

Personally, I would recommend against impulse shopping based on price for a “bargain” unless you know what you are looking for. And that requires some advance research and first of all defining your needs.

If you do go ahead look for a name brand like Yamaha, Sony, Pioneer, Marantz, etc.

Good luck.
