Question by Sicky321: Sound card optical out to home theater system plus pc speakers?
If I have a sound card that has 5.1 pc speaker input as well as optical out, can I connect the pc speakers along with connecting the optical out to a home theater system and that way use the home theater speakers along with the pc speakers at the same time?

How do I know if i have a sound card that will work with a 5.1 Surround sound system?

I am thinking about purchasing the Logitech X-530 5.1 surround sound system and I heard that you need a 5.1 sound card installed to make it work or sound better? How do I know if my computer has it? I have like 6 holes in the back of my computer with different colors so i dunno if that is the sound card. I looked in my drive and saw that my sound device is Sigmatel HighDef Audio Codec. Will this work? If not can i purchase any sound card as long as it has 5.1 in it? please reply asap thanks.

For a 5.1 surround sound card you will have between 4-6 audio ports. (Small round holes: lime green, black, light blue, magenta, tan…)

Q&A: Home Theater System buzzing when connected to pc sound card?

Posted in General with tags , , , , , , on August 2, 2010 by unlimitedtechsupport

Question by curious: Home Theater System buzzing when connected to pc sound card?
I have my home theater system rca cables with a minijack adapter plugged into my pc sound card. I get a buzzing so I’m guessing my sound card does not support 5.1. Will an external sound card 5.1 that I see on ebay make that buzzing stop? I can only put a right and a left into my receiver. The speakers are powered by the sub and the sub is powered by the receiver. Hope that makes sense.
